I've found this to be kind of a useful way to deal with things.
I obviously can't trust my own judgments since emotions get in the way so I have to think "what would I think if I had a kid who was in this situation?"
So you have to be your own mom in your mind.
What would your mother say?

<.< I would.
I do that too...
I do that with most everyone. "If I was in that poor guy's shoes I'd be creeped out, must stop staring"

Wow. She's obviously talking about parents in GENERAL, not specifically your own mother. Don't be stoopid, you guyz.

Mothers ask me that question when it appears I've done something wrong..
And my mother's insane, so she'd say anything out of the blue

oh... well this would be a good mindset if I didn't have my own brain to use...
My mom is never in the back of my head, my conscious is..

Okay, I'll correct my sentence then.
1. I hates the childrens. Never having them.
2. I wouldn't listen to either of my parents. They are both fucktards who would tell me anything to make me shut up.
3. ID, I love your avatar
Fixed now?

I don't think it has to be your mom, but what would you do if YOU where a mom, right?
(Even if you don't want to have kids/would eat them alive like candy/etc)
Yeah, it tends to help when I'm trying to give people advice IRL.
If I can see it from their parents point of view, its a little easier
to sympathise with the person because I can tell where their parents are coming from.
If that makes sense, I think this is what your getting at.
Sometimes its hard to get into the mindset though, especially if your
very close to the person your giving advice to.

Yeah,that makes sense to me.
I've never done that or even thought of that but it's a good idea.
Kind of like the "What would Jesus do?" kinda thing for Christians I guess..
