What can I do to look more scene?
So, recently I just got ditched by my so-called friends for becoming scene/emo. I don’t think I look scene at all really, but apparently my ex friends think I’m far enough along to be called so. I’m kind of upset about it but you know the more I think about it the more I actually WANT to look scene now, not just to get back at them by going all the way instead of “returning to how I used to dress” but also because I really do like the look. So, anyone have any advice for looking more scene? I don’t have much of a fashion sense, unfortunately =/ I uploaded some pics to my profile if you want to look at them and tell me what you think. Hair advice would be especially nice. Also, um, I have really short legs and a huge butt so I’m wondering if I can forego the skinny jeans and still achieve the look?

Emo is the expression of what YOU want to be... In reality, There is no such as being emo.
If you like it. Wear it.
To say "I want to dress emo" makes you a conformist. Its not the right view. If you want tips on how to be more open minded here would be the right place to ask.

So why do people keep calling me emo then? I’m no different; I just bought some new clothes because I’ve got a job now and can afford it. I LIKE what I wear now and I bought it because of that.

Oh, okay. Sorry then. That’s not how my friends made it out to be. It’s always, “Omg, what happened to you? You’re so emo now.” Idk, I guess I’m just confused because I’ve always liked the music and my personality didn’t change, yet all of a sudden I’ve got this label and I don’t know what to do with it. I do like the scene look though.

but az 2 ur Q.i guess the best way to get more scene iz to first look at what otherz wear...some might say thatz jus copyin, but everybody copiez, nobody can be original all the time..itz jus to get an idea of what u might like to wear, the best way to be original would probably b to customize ur stuff..like write stuff on it or draw on it or add extra pieces of cloth or cut it...thatz what i'd do...but im no expert so i could totally not know wht im talki bout..hehe

Uhm, i thought scene kids can listen to whatever music and such they liked.. *I* define scene as emo with pink. xD
But that's just me, and it doesn't have to be pink~ Scene is a variation of emo and punk really. You can add colour to your clothes/hair/etc, you don't have to wear exactly what a typical emo would wear.
Here's an example~
A typical emo would wear..
black hair (maybe streaked with a dark colour)
dark makeup (typically black eyeliner and eyeshadow)
black/dark band t-shirt
black/dark skinny jeans
vans/converse/etc~
While a scene kid could change this around to something like..
bleach-blonde hair (maybe a few coloured streaks too, can be bright)
bright makeup (pink, green, purple, red or blue (light) eyeshadow, light colours~)
coloured t-shirts, not necessarily a band t-shirt
shorts or pants of any description, can be of any colour too
vans/converse/ugg boots/etc~ (i've even seen a few in slippers)
My scene outfit is a bright pink shirt with an adorable hello kitty head on it, a studded belt, pair of pin-striped shorts, thigh-length purple and black stockings and black ugg boots. And so many accessories i can barely lift my arms.. Doesn't it revolt you? xD But that's my aim, so i'm proud if i do~
When i dress in a scene style my goal is to get as many people as i can staring at me, while still looking decent, so just go wild~ =D

id say get a poofy, yet razored haircut, and stick bows and clips in your hair. i find scene girls wear alot of hello kitty, my little pony, and other cartoons t shirts. so if you can incorporate things like that into your wardrobe, that would be scene.

wow there is quite the emo/scene pride up there isn't there?
if you like the look go for it
you don't have to do the lifestyle
but yeah i'd start with band t-stirts
shirts with high contrast
white on black or like pink on black et certera
then get into jeans and shoes
which most of the time will go together
concidering that skate shoes look horrid with skinny jeans
so look for the pair of chucks or vans or ed hardy's
that you like the most get them
and compliment them with a pair of dark skinny
or at least straight jeans
also hair is 100% the most important thng for the look
i'm in the process of growing out so i'm not there yet
but just look through some pictures on the site
and backcomb the back like hell
and black always looks sweet
but yeah do what you want wear what you want
and it's gunna looks sweet

hmm
this is a tricky one
because its not something you can really do overnight
do that,
you get called a fake
ive seen it happen to this girl at my school.
you gotta be interested in the music
fine if you fancy an appearance change, go for it, there's nothing wrong in changing yourself
just make it right for you
and dont try too hard
or try and force yourself to like little cute things like hello kitty, pukka & my little pony because at the end of the day its so common. how many pictures on myspace have you seen with someone cudding a hello kitty thing? i've seen zillions. and its getting boring.
its not original.
be bright, be vibrant
and let your personality shine out
dont try and be someone else
and as for your ex-friends
they need to grow up a bit.
my mates call me greb sometimes
and i about bite their heads off lol. i hate being labelled something.
so just be careful is all i'm saying
and keep your personality there still. real friends, people will accept you.like mine do now.
