Surgery! woohoo....

Surgery! woohoo....

by MetalSuicide on 11-30-2007 10:02 pm

Ok everyone, I have some news, I got surgery. 1st thing though, this thread isn't about me looking for sympathy, I just think it's kinda cool and it'll give me something to talk about for a while.

I went into the hospital yesterday and they gave me some painkillers when i first got there (To kill my pain) but they didnt really work because they were only panadol or something similar to that. I was in Pediatric Emergency, so like emergency but for children. It wasnt too bad at first, except for the fact that doctor after doctor came in to ask me the same questions over and over and over again. They decided to put me onto a drip, so they had to stick the needle into my arm (this is where the bad stuff starts) The needle didnt hurt even though it went in about an inch. But my mom saw the cuts and scars on my arm, needless to say she was shocked and angry but we didn't have time to talk about it becuase the surgeon called for me to be taken up to the operating room. after i got changed into the hospital gown they took me into the room and i met the 'anathstesiest' (my spelling is horrible i know >.<) and she injedted this weird white anathstetic into my arm and a few seconds later I was asleep

abut just over an hour later I woke up in recovery, and i had all these nurses asking me the same questions over and over and over again and they were all asking about my arm and if my parents did it too me and similar questions. My drip was bleeding which shocked me when i woke up to find blood all over myself. I was taken back down to the ward and kept there overnight, but I didnt eat becuase i wouldve thrown up because of the anathstetic. every few hours a nurse would come in and take my temprature/pulse and ask me MORE questions. Then I finnally was able to go to sleep and woke up the next morning at 6:00am so they could inject anti-biotics into my arm, then the surgeon had to come in and look at the wound with his med-students, unluckily I wasn't wearing clothes at the time Rolling Eyes But after a few more hours of pain and redressings I got discharged and came home to talk to you all about it.

Well I hope all you little sadist's out there enjoyed that, and I'm not going into detail with the surgery but they had to remove something that wasnt suposed to be there (not my genitals -.-)

Maybe you guys can post any interesting medical stories aobut yourselves, I quite enjoyed typing mine out for you all to read ^^

ooooh no dont be scared, its really not that bad. The surgery was painless and the only thing that bothers me now is the redressing. I was really really nervous when i first was getting it done, but you mellow out on painkillers pretty soon

the staff dont give a fuck
they FIX people

Well i didn't WANT the surgery, but is a whole lot worse without it. You only get one needle, they leave a drip in your arm so you only get it done once. Theres not much blood depending on the surgery.

And most of the nurses I had were amazing, they made it as least painfull as possible, one of them knew the surgeon was pretty rough with his checkup, so she snuck in and gave me some painkillers in the morning before he got there so it wouldnt hurt as much.

Ok, ok, I promise not to hit my head into the wall again, for a while anyway. Thankyou for the compliment about me being smart, I think it comes from surroundig myself with older, more mature people at schol, becuase all the guys my age are just...ugh... and being around girls a lot has changed me seeing as i used to go to an all-boy school. I do have incredibly low self esteem and I'm very shy, but everyone here is so nice and accepting of my differences and i <3 you all!

I am quite sad latley becuase I fell in love with my best friend, and when I told her she just wanted to stay friends, I'm happy i didnt ruinthe friendship, but I still think there's the possiblity for something more there that I'll regret later if i don't explore.

Oh wow, I think thats the first time anyone has ever called me 'doll' before, I'm loving it Wink . But thankyou, your really way too nice to me, but it's really complicated between us, because she does like me aswell, but she went through a bad break up with another guy not long ago, and I dont want to pressure her or anything so im giving her space, but I made her a heart with a poem inside it and gave it too her. But I dont have a copy of the poem I wrote I guess no one else will ever get to read it Confused

I'm giving you more Karma *hands bucket of Karma over* Enjoy!

I have a medical story, I was in Mexico volunteering at an orphanage (I'm serious) I spent the whole time being careful, eating protein bars and drinking bottled water.

Still, a day or so after I got back, I got really really sick, I won't go into details but the symptoms hit fast, I went from mildly tired to full blown shock in about 45 minutes, my family drove me to the er.

I remember being in the waiting room, uncontrollably shaking from hyperventilation, resisting the nausea; there were two cases in front of me, a jock with a broken wrist, and I think a younger kid that had bruised his finger in a door. I waited about half an hour.

When the doctor finally got to me, he put me in a hospital bed, started me on an iv and broad spectrum antibiotics; I remember him saying that it may make me a little sleepy, I passed out for about eleven hours or so.

When I woke up they told me that the drugs hadn't worn off yet and I needed to be taken out in a wheelchair. I had to stay on antibiotics for about a week or so, but most of the symptoms stopped after a week or so.

It was by far the most physically painful experience I have ever had.

BTW, MetalSuicide, glad your surgery went well, I hope you and your parents didn't have major problems after what happened.
