without having to get your parents permission to do so, the legal age is 17. unless you go to court and ask to be emancipated, which then you have to be at least 16 yrs old and have to show that you are financially stable to take care of yourself. But most of the time, the courts rarely grant it since most kids cant take care of themselves at that age. (But as you said, you have a friend to help out, so it could be possible.)

But going to stay at a friends house for a determined amount of time, is legal.

Moving out completely, isnt.

So after a fight wth your dad, go to the friends house and tell your dad your staying there for a long while.

yea I can feel ya. my parents divorced when I was six, I switch back and forth and go to my dads only when I have to... he's the controlling and strict one... about 3 months ago he found 2 packs of cigerettes, 3 empty beer cans, and all of my empty benadryl packages... every parents worst nightmare... we don't really talk anymore, and sadly my father knows he has lost me, we both aviod the fact well never be close.

so I give you a little advice: when familys are split, its a miricle if things get better or relashionships don't fade. please if you can talk to them because the longer you wait, the harder it will be to repair

Do you have a job? Seems not? Can you support yourself? I would assume not. Are you over reacting? Seems so.

Yeah Parents Suck.. I Know Exactly What Your Going Threw.. My Ma and Dad slip when i was 6 months old.. but my ma jus came into my life a couple years ago.. My dads a crazy alcoholic who thinks its AWESOME to hit me. Hahaa. asshole. But yeah as for your dad gettin pissed about the empty cigs's on ur room.... its kinda retarted my dad caught me smokin and i laughed at him lol how old are you anyway.....? But if you want to know the legal age to move out, call your local police station (NOT 911) lol and just tell them you have a question and then ask.. its prolly somewhere around 16....

Your quite right on this - in this case your dad's completely right. And you only rebel when it's really NOT RIGHT. Smoking isnt exactly healthy anyway.
