Should be kept separate.
Even JC says this
Render therefore unto Caesar the things which are Caesar's; and unto God the things that are God's. - Matthew 22:21

I totally agree.KittensKill wrote: Should be kept separate.
Unfortunately here they're not.
Religion should have nothing to say in state affairs. Which includes laws.

yeah i agree
although it makes you wonder what should govern laws..
because if what decides whether a law should be passed is popular opinion (like a public vote) then whatever is the most common ideology will govern laws
this may be a religion.

Hell, no! You shouldn't base laws on the opinion of majority. The majority is stupid, racist, homophobe, sexist, etc.stupidemo wrote: because if what decides whether a law should be passed is popular opinion (like a public vote)
But I think there's no easy answer to the question on which you should base them instead. It's also off-topic.

They should be seperate.
Unfortunately in AMARICUH, we are still attempting to have Christianity and the Government together, even when John Adams and Ben Franklin were staunch secularists.
Even a lot of our laws are based off of Judeo-Christian morals.

why ?
Even though taxing the church and religion in general would take a huge load off everybody's backs.

I honestly would be so inclined to move if Canada didn't have them separated.
They should be. Especially in North America, we have religious tolerance... Sometimes.
Look at Afghanistan (sp?), aren't they a religious government, technically?

My first thought when I found out that the church got gay marriage banned was "It's a conspiracy, maaaannn!"
We can't have the churches making our laws.

"Afghanistan is currently led by President Hamid Karzai, who was elected in October 2004. The current parliament was elected in 2005. Among the elected officials were former mujahadeen, Taliban members, communists, reformists, and Islamic fundamentalists.
I think that says alot.
