Well I don't live in Russia and I'm not a type of music so I'm not concerned.
On a more serious note:
No they're not suppressing your "individuality". If you're a generic "emo kid"(scene kid) you have no individuality far as I'm concerned. You're supposed to be "non-conformist", when you're actually just conforming to this stereotype instead of say the "prep" stereotype. You're still conforming, you're still losing your individuality. And the whole "emo" stereotype is linked with suicide so what do you expect them to do? And don't go off saying "THEYJ UST DONT UNDERSTAND US!!!?!?!1?" I doubt any of you really understand any stereotypes beside the "emo kid" stereotype, and most of you don't even understand that. You call yourselves "emo" and "bipolar" and "depressed". You're not a type of music, and unless you've been diagnosed by a doctor, don't put say you have those diseases, it's offensive to people who actually do have said diseases.

The emo kids have been out protesting again, this time not against the Daily Mail, but in Russia where the authorities are reportedly trying to ban emo and goth wear from the country's schools. A few dozen emo kids took to the streets in the Siberian city of Krasnoyarsk last week to protest at the new rules, which also ban the use of text messaging in schools. One protestor told the Associated Foreign Press: "How can you stop people from expressing themselves, from dressing how they like, from living a way of life that doesn't harm anyone?" Well, introducing stricter school uniform rules would be one way. Reports suggest the Russian authorities are banning emo wear from school because of this strange obsession with the idea that the emo scene is somehow linked to teenage suicide. Of course, telling angst-ridden suicidal teenagers they can't dress how they want is really going to help.
