So that guy drugs and rapes a 13 year old girl. He pleds guilty, but is never punished because he fled the country. Actually he's praised by the whole world. People are giving awards to a admitted rapist. Standing ovations.

Why the hell did it take so fucking long to arrest him?
Why the hell do people rush to his defence?

I understand the woman wants it to end. But she is the only one who in my opinion has a right to say something like this.

And If she publicly forgives him, is it really rape anymore? Shes kinda given her consent for it, its just she was underage at the time. He should be punished, but i think the punishment needs to fit the crime, and if the 'victim' doesnt even think its that big of a deal, i think they are just making too big a deal about it.

What a stupid statement. If you forgive someone for murdering your child, does that mean your child wasn't murdered? Of course not, forgiving someone for committing a crime doesn't erase the crime.
And rape is a crime, and this man needs to get the same punishment that every other rapist gets, not only because he broke the law, but because letting him off easy sends the message: Hey it's alright to rape! She'll forgive you and you'll get away with it!

Not wanting a trial after 30 years doesn't mean she's forgiving him. It just means she doesn't want a trial.

Doesn't matter if she gave consent, she was thirteen. She was not legally able to give her consent. Even if she could, she was intoxicated and still couldn't give her consent.

He raped a child. He should rot. I don't give a damn if he's a fucking genius or not, he raped a child. I don't care if the victim forgives him, she should still be put in jail, in not for violating a child, for fleeing the country before he could be sentenced. No sympathy. I hate predators, especially those who prey on children.

Doesn't matter whether she was thirteen if she didn't give consent. It would still be rape, no matte what single factor (the age, the drugs, the consent) you take out.
I also can't believe that people think those 42 days which he was held was enough. Would you still say that if it was your daughter and the guy got away after 42 days?
I also think him paying his way out of this would give the wrong signal. Like it's ok to rape someone if you just give her enough money afterwards.

i personally think that if a person is underage, but they're consenting, it shouldn't be considered rape. i'm not saying that it's acceptable, or that it should be permitted, because it most definitely should not. it's unfair for someone to take advantage of another's lack of life experience and not being able to know better. but rape implies a use of force and violence. i see the two as different, though neither should be tolerated
