We get out of school on martin luther King day. martin luther king helped the blacks fight for rights, he was a good man. But why should we get out out of school for him, yet we dont get out of school for 9/11, which was a horrible national tragedy??

They have African Descent. How come you call Asians Asians? They were born in America.

I would just prefer to be called American since I am not from Africa nor is anyone in my family. It's not really appropriate unless you're also in the habit of calling whites "European-Americans". It's definitely language that serves to subtly alienate blacks from ordinary "Americans".

Who said all black people wan't a month? black history is apart of american history and shouldn't be something that's thrown in to one month,it should be taught alongside all of the acheivements of white americans and if you didn't exist you wouldn't make up 73.94% of the US population I would rather get a day off from school on a day that made a positve mark in history rather than something that was a national tragedy or better yet could have been started by are goverment.
