Im assuming since its entertainment related it should go here.

We do not have an R18+ rating for games and despite a majority of the electorate appearing to want to make the move, one man is able to totally stop that decision, does that really seem fair in a democracy?
Im interested to hear the opinions of both those fellow Aussies who are subjected to it, and to those that do have the rating and there thoughts.
How easy do we want to make life for parents?
Another interesting article on the subject of games:

In order to buy an old FPS, I had to show my Identification at GameStop. It didn't even have a few bits of blood. Just an army shooter with old graphics.
I believe 10+ can play SOME games, and 12+ for MMOs, and 14+ for all other games, especially gore and such.
The 10 year olds ruin gaming sometimes, as all they do is scream, shout, whine, cry, and talk too much. Games are for chilling out, hanging, and relaxing. When I'm playing with people 16+ they are chilled out and mellow. Bring a little kid into it and you have to turn off voice chat if there is no mute option.
Or just ban them, that always works.

We have Adult Only ratings. Though I've never seen one, they do exist somewhere, on some game box. The highest game rating I've seen is M, on a hell of a lot of games.

Things like Fallout 3 for example were forced to change the name of the drugs (From real world names) in the game in order to get released under the M Rating (or MA).
Ill see if I can get together some good examples of what we have lost out on.
