well it's popularity contest cause yeah there are probably let's say very good debateurs who just posted once... Ok they may be awesome at this but how could we know if we never heard of this person ? it work like that in real too actually. You notice more people you know and are more receptive to them.

I'm not saying it's a popularity contest to try and undermine the people who have won awards, there have been categories where people have deserved to win without a doubt. But there have been some cases where it's obviously just people voting for their friends. I mean fair enough, it's just some silly forum poll there's no need to take it seriously, but there's no point in pretending these things are completely unbiased either.
