The Official Religion Thread

by PoptartsBleedJellyNoMore on 10-22-2009 11:35 pm

they make it seem like God only asks of us to think of him and worship and abide by his 'rules'.
a perfect example of god being made in the image of man

I want to say; It's a one way of thinking he implemented into our minds from himself and his own ways.
But right now, I'm just thinking about how much of a control freak he is.
'Worship me and I'll bring you peace and prosperity and a chance at heaven. Unless you go against me or you don't listen to them cause then you're going to hell, unless you repent, then it's all good.'

It's just assumed I guess since males are known as the dominate ones and play a certain role in a household, the household being us.
But isnt it the female that is seen as the nurturing one?
i can understand the concept of a female god giving birth to the universe.
the biblical god is a foolish leader, a 3 year old who cant get his own way

Oh yes, like Snow pointed out before, and it made a lot more sense for God to be female, but couldn't it be both ways? Who says he has to be the one or the other?

sad, isnt it?
the louder you declare you are christian, the better your chance of gettin in upstairs.
its just a pity people misinterpret the bable

Incorrect.

Matthew 7:21-23
21 Not everyone who says to Me, "Lord, Lord," shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.
22 Many will say to Me in that day, "Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?"
23 And then I will declare to them, "I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness."

And I try to spread my religion like a good little Christian but if you absolutely don't believe in it and do not want to then I can't change that.

You have the right to choose whichever religion you want but here's my opinion:

The "7 deadly sins" aren't about morals. Morals should be followed out of decency, not fear.

And something I'd like to add is that holidays like christmas and easter were aquired from Pagan holidays which ofcourse had nothing to do with jesus. And also much of characteristics of Perun(the god of thunder and lightning in Slavic Paganism) were passed on to saint Elijah. I'm sure there are many other things but those are the ones I could think of right now.
Anyway, I think you got the idea...

I think religion is your own deciscion. i do think that its stupid to believe in something that you've never even seen, but i have my theories too. i think we live our lives multiple times, there's no beginning and no end in that. thats why we have deja vu's sometimes. i have them very often really. i think everyone should choose for themselves, i just dont believe in a god or something. it's just like me being vegetarian, i dont care if someone eats meat, but i just dont want to eat dead animals, its gross. my bf isn't vegetarian and i'm not pushing him into it, he also is christian, and i dont try to make him an atheist like me. and that goes for all of the religious people^^

Exactly. Most christians(like my former self) follow the religion out of fear. I was afraid of dying. They make it seem like rainbows and butterflies when you die to make you feel better.

No
That's the point 'apparently'
You need to have 'faith'

I hold partially onto my religion and do not think of it as manipulative. Because you get to choose your religion. Free will is the test.

(These are my beliefs you do not have to agree nor support them)

I agree

What more proof do you need? Look around you, mate. Everything you've seen, everything you know and love... It would be foolish to deny it's creation by a superior being. Sure, science can continue to come up with theories about evolution and the matters. But, a theory is just a speculation. Nobody was there at the beginning of life, nobody witnessed the "big bang". The theory also suggests that originally there was nothing, and that chemicals and atoms reacted to cause a massive chain reaction of outward explosions. Well, science... Where did the atoms come from?

By the way, God needs a capital 'G', as God is what he/she is referred to as, thus making it his/her name.
