"you are"...a poem that could teach a lesson.

'you are'
written 10.6.2009

you are my best friend, my love, my dream, my life.
your tight embrace and gentle words saved me from the knife.

i cannot watch as you stand with her,
you're not 'together', but did it occur
the things that flash through my mind
millions of images, most are unkind.

i dont show my hurt, i dont show anything.
i just smile and nod, with a newly broken wing.

you ask to walk me home, or maybe just to somewhere
i politely refuse, walk away, and gasp for air.
your words stab straight through my heart,
and during the heavy breaths the tears do start.

i trip and stumble through the shady wood,
i stop for air and choke, inhale; if only i could

i stand there suffocating from the pain that tortures me
i may seem fine, but my true emotions you do not see
collapsing on the pine needle floor i stare up at the sky
and in my mind i piece together a story about this guy

how he ignored my love and brought pathetic tears of rage
and as i die i lightly think, 'if only he could have read this page.'

((its about a girl dying from a broken heart)) if you didnt know....constructive criticism welcome (:
