Got A Band You Think No One Has Heard Of? Post Them Here!

by AllThingsCreative on 10-07-2009 10:49 pm

I happen to know a band that I have been a fan of since they 1st started. I have promoted them forever, but I feel like no one still knows who they are. If you have a similar story post it here, and get your word out. Now on to my story...

I know of a band that has been playng since they were in 5th grade. They are from a small town in Oklahoma, and their story needs to be told. The band is called Crooked X. The lead singer and drummer were actually on the same failing football team. After the season was up they decided to start a band and added a friend as their lead guitarist. They found their bassist at a local Guitar Center and started writing songs. They had a few songs down and submitted a video of them to The Late Night Show's "Living Room Live" and came in second place. Luckily for them 2 major people were watching that night. Spencer Proffer and Doc McGhee. They were quickly signed and released their 1st few songs onto what we all love and know as Rock Band. 3 of their songs are featured on the original Rock Band; Gone, Rock N' Roll Dream, and Nightmare. Nightmare was written and became a song when the band members were 11. Guess how old they are now? The lead singer just turned 16 and the rest of the band is 15.

They have a album and cd out; self-titled. You can find it at Wal-Mart or Best Buy or where ever music is sold. They play Metal and Hard Rock. They are unlike any band I have ever heard. The lead singer's vocals sound unbeleivable! He even screams abit too.

They have their own website. You can buy merch, see pics and videos, watch and read inerviews, see upcoming news, check tour dates, and even connect with them. Also they have a Myspace, and others like Flickr, Twitter, YouTube, BuzzNet, and many more. It's even cool, because the individual band members have their own Myspaces and YouTubes!

Band Members are as follows...
Forrest French: Lead vocals, guitars
Jesse Cooper: Lead Guitars, back-up vocals
Josh McDowell (featured on my profile): Bass
Boomer Simpson: Drums, back-up vocals

For only being 15 years olds and one 16 year old, they sound beyond amazing. I ask you to check them out! I will list below some links to their website, myspace and facebook, and also some pics of them.

The Pillows... This is a band I believe not many people have heard of. They did some stuff for the anime FLCL or Fooly Cooly. They are Jap Rock and sing very little in english. Despite this they are very good and you should look them up they are HELLA BITCHIN lol //_^

[b]Honestly, if you think a band that someone has posted up here isn't good, or you don't like them, Don't comment on that. Just leave it alone, and move on! I don't really like HATE MAIL! I will report you if I have too.

Thanks for everyone that took notice to this so far! I'll check out every band on here that's been posted, if you'll check out mine. Thanks for the response; KEEP THEM COMING!

And, one last and final request! If you have information about the band, it may only be there name, put that in your post! If you don't WANT to or feel like your TOO LAZY, don't post anything. We need a reason to like them!

Thanks for listening to my nagging!

YES!

also: It wasn't "hatemail" it was pointing out the simple fact that if you're on an "emo" forum and haven't heard of conor's rotating band of misfits then you don't know a thing about the last remnants of good emo.

Wow, I didn't know Crooked X's members of the band were THAT young. lol
Yeah, I actually heard of them through Rock Band. Some good stuff they have. Rock Band really rocks. Very Happy

Now let's see...a band that I know should deserve the attention-a lot of bands come to mind, actually.

But I guess I'll start with actually naming a band that is in the emo genre.
Elliott. Yes, that's the band's name.
They're from Louisville, KY. Started out in 1995, released their first full album in 1998 titled U.S. Songs, then went on to release an EP called If They Do in 1999.
Now those two didn't get as much attention as their second full album titled False Cathedrals in 2000. Revelation Records(the record label they were with) currently states that False Cathedrals is one of their most sold albums of all time.

After a great album, the line-up changed and they weren't really the same(they had some other line-up changes before but nothing too drastic had happened). With the new guitarist, the style changed but they released their third album title, Song In The Air in 2003. They broke up after that, stating that they just weren't really feeling that they still had to make music together. But in 2005 they finally released Photorecording, some extras for the fans and a documentary of their last tour together.

Just some history...well, heck I guess I put down all of their history. lol

Main reason that I'd recommend this band though, is because there's just so much emotion put into the songs, and the lyrics really get to you.
Like, for example a song of theirs called Shallow Like Your Breath. It starts off slow, melodic, and toward the middle of the song, it changes completely and thrusts you into a more emotional rise of the song. They also have awesome worthy to listen to instrumentals I really wish they'd made more instrumental songs.

The lead singer Chris Higdon(he's currently in another band called Frontier(s).), also has a very unique voice. Another reason I began listening to them.

You've just gotta listen to some of their songs. Some people label them as emotional hardcore, Indie Rock, or Alternative.
Songs I recommend:
(Album:
Songs)

U.S. Songs:
Second Story Skyscraper
Ten Cent Inquiry
Every Train That Passes

If They Do:
Waiting While Under Paralysis
As Arson
The Watermark High

False Cathedrals:
Speed of Film
Dying Midwestern
Shallow Like Your Breath
Calm Americans

Song in the Air:
Away We Drift
Blue Storm
Land and Water

Now, I had to give most of their songs a few listens before I actually began liking them but give them a few tries and you'll see why I think they were meant to be so much more. Smile
