2) Basic commands.
3) Nickserv commands
4) Botserv & Chanserv commands
5) Memoserv commands
6) Misc. Commands and Bot Commands

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Basic Information
- IRC is short for Internet Relay Chat.
- Users can connect and communicate on IRC
- Users can use many clients to connect to IRC (a few being: mIRC, CGI:IRC, and pjIRC)
- Users can join “channels” which are individual chatrooms on a network
A channel is created when a REGISTERED user types out the registration command (which you will eventually see). The user will then appoint a network bot for his channel. A network bot performs many housekeeping tasks. The owner of the new channel will then probably recruit a couple of his buddies to be moderators in his new channel.
Depending on how much power the owner wants his buddies to have, he will give them different amounts of ACCESS. Access is a number.
Any negative access = Automatic kick-ban from the channel.
0, 1, 2 = Normal user (no added privileges)
3 = Voice (no added privileges, usually given just for show)
4 = Halfop (can kick, and can voice other users)
5, 6, 7, 8, 9 = Regular Operator (can kick and ban)
10 – 9999 = Super Operator (can kick, ban, and set channel modes)
And finally,
Founder = Automatically has 9999 access. Can ban, kick, set channel modes, and change channel options
Anyone with a (@) sign before their name is an Operator. Anyone with a (%) sign before their name is a Halfop. Anyone with a (+) sign before their name is a Voice. Anyone with no sign before their name is a Normal user.
Uhhhhhh...........anything else?....
Oh. Let’s go over some IRC rules.
1: Don’t infringe on another person’s speech.
2: Be courteous to everyone.
3: No porn or sick content.
4: Don’t be a stalker.
5: In IRC, please do not cause drama. If you have a conflict, work it out with each other. If you still can’t figure it out, talk to an OP. If they don’t decide to kick one of you, and you still feel like whining, talk to Flowmo.
6: Don’t pick on the newbs. Picking on noobs is fine though.
7: Cuss as much as you want...until an OP or another user says no.
8: Do not post personal information. That will get you raped and murdered.
9: Use common sense
10: Discrimination is not wanted.
11: Do not post fake pictures of yourself.
Annnnd that is it for today.
Tomorrow after school we will continue with Basic Commands. I will go over color, nick changes, basic basic channel commands, etc.
Basic Commands
To join a channel type /join #channelname
- to find a directory of channels on a network type /list
To change your name type /nick NEWNICKHERE
- since networks usually have lots of users, the username you choose may be taken. When this happens,
you will see a NickServ message telling you to identify. Choose another nickname.
To register your nickname type /ns register PASSWORD EMAIL
-Replace PASSWORD with a unique password of your choice, and EMAIL with your email
-After you register, you now have the ability to be given access, register channels, recieve memos, PM
(on some servers) and other things
-After registration, you must type /ns id YOURPASSWORDHERE or you will be booted off your nickname.
The nickname belongs to you.
If you feel the need to have over 3 names, type /ns group YOURBASENICK YOURPASS
-This command brings the name into your group. All of your grouped nicknames have the same access
and settings
-This command is typed when you are on the nickname you want to group
-Replace YOURBASENICK with the first name you registered and YOURPASS with the password of that
nickname
Lets get into some text effects.
To type with bold font press CONTROL + B. This enables bold. Any text you type after this will be bold. After you are done typing in bold, type Control + B again. This disables bold. Any text you type after this will be NORMAL.
To type with underline type CONTROL + U. This enables underline. Any text you type after this will be underlined. After you aer done typing in bold, type CONTROL + U again. This disables the underline. Any text you type after this will be NORMAL.
Oh by the way, these can be used in combination.
For example, if you type CONTROL + B + CONTROL + U you will have underlined and bolded font.
To use colors press CONTRL + K + (color #) + text. You can also add a background. To do this press CONTRL + K + (color#),(backgroundcolor#).
Here are the colors, : White (0) Black (1) Navy Blue (2) Green (3) Red (4) Brown (5) Purple (6) Orange (7) Yellow (Cool Lime Green (9) Teal (10) Aqua Light (11) Royal Blue (12) Hot Pink (13) Dark Gray (14) Light Gray (15)
For moderators
To kick type !K USERNAMEHERE. This command removes a user from the channel
To kick-ban type !KB USERNAMEHERE. This bans the user and removes them also.
To mute a user type /mode #CHANNEL +m. After doing this, de-voice the user by typing !devoice NICK. The user will not be able to talk until you voice them again.
To add a user to the akick list type /cs akick #CHANNEL add USERNAME/HOSTMASK. You will probably not need to do this, because I know how to.
Nickserv Commands
Most servers have a service called Nickserv. This allows users to register their nicknames for 2 main purposes.
1) To protect their identity
2) To allow people to receive memos, and to be able to have access.
All nickserv commands start with the prefix /msg Nickserv OR /ns in short form.
You already know how to register.
(By the way, all commands below apply to people who have registered)
You already know how to group.
To view all usernames in your group of nicknames type /ns glist
If someone (who is not you) is using your REGISTERED nickname, type /ns recover YOURNICK YOURPASS.
This will free up your name again. To regain access to your nickname, type /ns release YOURNICK YOURPASS and then /nick YOURNICK and then identify (/ns id YOURPASS).
If you have connection problems and your nickname is still online when you return from a disconnection, type /ns ghost YOURNICK YOURPASS. This will free your nickname.
The command /ns alist allows you to see what channels you have access on and how much access you have.
The command /ns info allows you to see information on every registered nickname on a network. For example...Typing /ns info Uiik will tell you:
Uiik is Uiik
Uiik is currently online.
Time registered: Sep 30 02:27:22 2009 CEST
Last quit message: Quit: I love you all
Typing the command given at the bottom (/ns info Uiik ALL) will tell you my hostname, email address, and some of my set options.
To abandon your nickname, type /ns drop
There are a couple more commands for NickServ, that are probably unimportant and irrelevant to you. If you are really that interested in boring matters, here is the rest...(I DO NOT OWN THIS ARTICLE)
Some of the commands and other things in the above article may be inaccurate for the server that #EmoBucket is on, but it gives you an idea.
Moving on...
Chanserv and Botserv commands
Okay...you guys probably don't need to know any of this stuff except for a few simple commands.
To change the topic type /cs topic #CHANNEL topic-here (Please do not use this unless you have permission, because we already have a topic set)
To find information about a channel type /cs info #CHANNEL
That is it for Chanserv.
Botserv commands arent that important.
To view a list of the network bots type /bs botlist
To talk using a network bot type /bs say #CHANNEL TEXTHERE
To do actions using a network bot type /bs act #CHANNEL TEXTHERE
Thats it.
Moving on.
Misc. and Bot Commands
If you want to switch networks type /server -m SERVERADDRESS
If you want to quit type /quit (optional leaving message)
If you want to part a channel type /part #channel (optional leaving message)
EBbot commands
Type !commands to read about them.
For operators:
To voice, devoice, halfop, dehalfop, op, or deop a user type +v, -v, +h, -h, +o, -o (IN THAT ORDER) giving the name of the user after the command.
If shit is getting weird, type !off and if you are an operator, the bot will turn off. Do not use this often, it makes me mad.
To turn password protection on in #emobucket type !security on (and !security off to turn it off). This is only used if we are being raided and trolled.
To login to EBbot /msg EBbot login. This is for me
To login to the Emergency Response System type /msg EBbot HELP
That is all you really need to know
Thanks for reading.
Enjoy not having a life anymore.
