Well, my yoga course is having a summer break, I didn't have the discipline to do the workout anyway, I have to work overtime at the computer and I don't have had a holiday yet.
This resulted in bad pain in my left shoulder. Somehow I have to try to stay in working shape for a couple more days until my holiday starts end of next week. (Though it'd be nice if I wouldn't start my holiday with pain.) But I need to work at the computer. I can try to at least not do overtime (I have enough already), but it's still going to be 6 or 7 hours.
Does anyone have ideas how to relax my shoulder?
And take care that my lower back won't get worse than it already is?

The only thing I can think of off hand is Ice and maybe a short course of ibuprofen (Advil) or Naproxen (Aleve).
They are available in most pharmacy's, and you don't need a prescription.
Follow the directions, and Ice it whenever you get a chance (maybe an icepack you can wrap around your shoulder. Velcro, possibly.)
Let me do some research and see what comes up.
What kind of pain are you actually in, and how bad?

Well, it's my left shoulder. I think it's the muscles, they're tense. After too much time on the computer it travels down the arm and is a somewhat burning sensation. It also gets worse after more time on the PC.
Oh, and it's not my mouse arm, btw, it's the other one.

Hmm.. Well I looked it up, and everything I found has something to do with the rotator cuff being inflamed.
Most of the treatments are ice and the meds I said above.
But your supposed to avoid sleeping with your arm over your head, or under the pillow, etc. And to not try and lift heavy things.
Personally, I would take in a lot of calcium, just in case it's the bone.
I hope you get better!
Try the medicine and ice on and off, and see what helps.

Have someone press the pressure points in your shoulder.
It'll hurt for a second, but it'll be worth it.

Is the heat IN your shoulder or more on the outside of your shoulder? I recommend hot baths, ibuprofen, and Icy Hot. If it persists more then four or five days, off to the doctor with you for stronger anti-inflammatories. Be sure to go easy on it.

so far alot have said icy-hot. ok it works for the time being but unless you want to constantly turn to that i suggest having someone find where the pressure is and rub it out. if its knots it will help.

We don't have icy hot over here. But I bought another cream, Kytta. I think it's an anti-inflammatories, too, and takes away the pain.
I don't have a bath tub either.
And no one to massage me.
Good news is that the doctor at the company can apparently put people back in and I can see him on Monday.
Today wasn't too bad, I was careful. One more day of work (with two meetings), then it's weekend.
Thanks a lot to you all.

It's back again. Even though I had yoga yesterday.
Two of my colleagues called in sick and I have to stand-in for them, so I can't call in sick, too. But damn. It really hurts.
Last time the doctor said there's an imbalance between the strength of my muscles and the work they have to do (though I sit at the PC nearly all day...). So I bought a swing stick; I guess I should train more with it.
Anyway.
Does anyone have more ideas? Maybe some relaxing exercises?
Does any one know any exercises (without equipment, if possible) that strengthen my muscles in that area?

I was in a car accident in August and I've been having problems in my shoulders similiar to what you're having I think. For physical therapy they have me working with an exercise ball, but you could probably substitute that with a bunch of pillows or something. Basically I lay over the ball on my stomach and have it right under my crotch. I keep my legs out straight and my hands on the floor in push up position. And then instead of doing regular push-ups, to really work out your muscles when you go down you try to draw your shoulder blades inwards, and when you push up, push your shoulder blades outwards, almost making a hunchback sort of position. It feels really good too. They have me doing some other exercises, but you'd actually need an exercise ball and a stretch band for the rest.
