Painful Obsession

Nothing can cure her weakness for the feel of your skin
It’s her addiction, her prescription
Without that touch, the world starts to fade away
Then nothing else can help her day
They try to soothe her, but she’s gone
She can’t sleep before the break of dawn
Staying up all night just to feel you in her daydreams
Your light caressing touch…or so it seems
As she waits for you to come home and hold her for real
For your touch is the only thing she wants to feel
Weak without it, she can’t eat, can’t bear to eat
Throughout the day she just drags her feet
Waiting to feel you again, just once more
Longing for it with everything in her being, her core
But all those days and nights she spent were wasted
For it was the cold, hard asphalt that you tasted
No one had the heart to tell her what went on
But thanks to him, you were forever gone
So she waited patiently for your return
In the mornings, her stomach would churn
She couldn’t understand where you went
All those painful nights alone she spent
Waiting for someone who couldn’t come back
All her previous joy and happiness were in lack
Then you come home and kiss her cheek
Suddenly she no longer feels weak
She throws her arms around your neck
Whispering ‘Wait here a sec…’
And she goes to the bedroom to change her clothes
You follow, and it’s as if she already knows
For she turns around with a smile and a wink
Her scarce outfit makes you violently blink
She giggles, it’s the reaction she wanted
Then she pulls you close, making you feel taunted
You’ve both waited so long for this,
To just touch again, share a kiss
The night is long and you never stop
Til the time gets close and your hearts drop
She holds you close and whispers ‘Please stay here’
But then you have to go…and she wakes up with a tear.
