First Aid for Self Injury

by krizzy on 06-20-2009 10:31 am

this is really useful . i was really stupid and used something potentially dangerous(as in potentially infectuous) to cut. but at least it was a one time thing for me. this is my first time ever talking about it and admiting it. anyways, i really just want to forget about it. but the scars always remind me. its been more than weeks or months. i think its been more than 2 years now. most of the scars have disappeared but there is this really long one (used to be 4 inches. now 2 inches.) its still there. its been such a long time. is there anyway to get rid of it? not immediately, but faster? like, any creams or such? i wish i had this info before though. things could be better if i did.
oh.. and turn on the light if you cut. because i didnt, it was my first time, i didnt feel pain or see the wound i was creating so things did not turn out so well. it probably sounds really stupid, but you definitely should know how much damage your doing to yourself.

It is extremely more likely to get addicted to, say, Oxys than it is to get addicted to Tylenol. The affects are far different as well.

I agree with turning the light on.
It is dangerous to cut (no duh) and if you are in the dark it makes it so much easier to end up killing yourself

I think you can't accidentally kill yourself very easily. You have to really be going for it to hit an artery, and veins are easy to hit and clot easily as well.

my technique to stop was whenever i tried to stop or like it was unavailable to me, like at school, i used my pencil lead (pump pencil so it was kinda sharp) and kinda scraatched but not break the skin at all, it would have kinda the feeling of cutting but it never broke the skin and there would be a red mark there for a few hours... it really helped me... hope im helpin any...

rly good tips!
i dont cut myself, i dont rly have anything sharp that i could use without anyone noticing. but sumtimes when im rly upset, i dig my fingernails into my skin or bite myself. i never do it enough to bleed. but usually it kind of....welts. i put ointment on it a lot. sumtimes i have to use ice. i want to stop, but when im rly upset, like beyond words upset, i dont even think about it. i dont give myself i chance to think about it.

And sorry to be so blunt, but your really stupid.

Cutting solves nothing, and your a weak person for thinking that is your only option. There are lots of ways to help, including just talking with people (even online).

oh, fuck you!

cutting does not show weakness. most people who cut do so because (a)they are masochists (which isn't, in my opinion, a problem, as long as they're careful.) or (b) they have really fucked up problems in their life which are beyond their control. most of the latter have already tried alternatives like talking to people, or perceived that this wasn't an option. calling people stupid does not help anything. try to contribute, rather than trolling.

i used to cut, for about 2 years. all i can say is that it was the biggest mistake i ever made. my scars still haunt me. quite a few of them are really bad, it still gets me down... and even though its been like a year and a half since S.H was a real problem 4 me, i still get that urge. ive done it again on rare occasion since the main 'phase' of it. but tbh i always regret it and think 'wtf was i doing'. i could never ever in a million years ever do it to myself again...

Your an idiot. Cutting doesnt make you stupid or weak. neither does the belief that cutting is the only solution. People may not know how else to deal with the problem, except by cutting. So you have to teach them. Not insult them and tell them to do something they dont even know how to do.

I'm glad you made this guide for people that not only do it because they have problems, but just to fit in or have a conversation starter that have no idea what they are getting to (I see it alot in the wemo group)
Personally i hate pain. I just don't have the balls to hurt myself because life is good even though it sucks.

Point is this. Someone always has it worse. You can't let the world get to you because you won't fucking make it. tr00f. I wish all you the best of luck.
