Favorite Poets/Poems?
xxlittleemogirlxx wrote: my faves are Robert Frost and Edger Allen Poe
my fave poem is Fire and Ice
Some say the world will end in fire,
some say in ice,
From waht i've tasted of desire
I hold with those who favor fire
But if it had to perish twice,
I think I know enough of hate
to say that for destruction on ice
Is also great And would suffice
Robert Frost
I LOVE THAT POEM!
don't know why
(don't know the name it was for my bros english assignment and i loved it)
but i'd deff say my fav poem THAT ONE!VV
Cupid and my Campaspe played
At Cards for kisses - Cupid paid:
He stakes his quiver, bow, and arrows,
His mother's doves, and team of sparrows;
Loses them too; then down he throws
The coral of his lips, the rose
Growing on his cheek (but none knows how);
With these, the crystal of his brow,
And then the dimple of his chin-
All these did my Campaspe win.
At last he set her both her eyes-
She won, and Cupid blind did rise.
Oh Love! Hath she done this to thee?
What shall, alas, become of me?

RE: Favorite Poets/Poems?
My favorite poet is my friend Kenny, he is able to tap into my emotions with the simplest of words, and he can always make me feel better when life plays its dirty tricks on me.

this poem is by someone called Brier....
i reckon its relly good and i just want to share it...
She remembers it all,
All the people who had said
They cared, but did they really?
She remembers it all,
The sound of laughter and
How happy she'd been, but was she really?
She remembers it all,
His arms around her and
He said "I love you," but did he really?
She remembers it all,
The pain she'd felt when he left,
How her heart ached, but was it really?
She remembers it all,
The feeling of being so alone,
The feeling no one cared, but did they really?
But now they'll remember her,
Staring at the knife in her hand
How easy to slit her wrists, but will she really?
and also my fav are Poe and shel silverstein <3

As for classics, Sir Walter Raleigh.
for modern, Emily Autumn (she has a whole album of like 46, i believe, poems simply spoken) and Sam Green (he's a really cool poet if you go to his readings, he is/was? the poet laureate but he lives very near me)

I'm in love with William Shakespear.
And, I'm actually doing Romeo and Juliet for my English class.
Its by luck I have to play Juliet. -groans-

Sorry... Shakespeare to me is an epic fail!
Anyway... I love Edgar Allan Poe. He's my favorite. I like modernism poetry (which was written in the 1920's)
We read a poem by Emily Dickenson in English this year. And my teacher asked us what we thought. And me, being the only one in the class that actually speaks their mind says... "I didn't like it. I don't see what's so great about her. The poem was that great."
When teachers are supposed to support free thinking opinions... he just stared at me with the look that says... "Well, you're wrong and it is good and I don't care what you think"
He's a retard anyway...

RE: Favorite Poets/Poems?
I love Tony Hoagland's work. My favorite poem of his is "Poem for Men only"
There's also, Anne Sexton (My favorite of hers is Red Riding Hood from her collection "Transformations") , Garrett Hongo, Jimmy Santiago Baca, Jack Myers, Ralph Angel ("The River had no Hair to Hold onto" is a great piece of work), and Naomi Nye (I recommend her poem "Kindness").
Langston Hughes is great too, but I'm not a fan of the rhyme scheme he uses in his later work.
