Most of the poems in this forum have been completely free form, without structure, rhyme or rhythm. These may be heartfelt and dramatic but if you really want to show off your poetic skills try writing in format.
Here are some types of poetry.
Haiku

Haikus do not rhyme
They are simplistic in form
with only 3 lines.
Limerick

B - / - - /

Generally used in humorous context the Limerick has 5 lines making use of an AABBA rhyming pattern A lines rhyme with other A lines and B lines rhyme with other B lines. The slashes indicate the placement of stress upon syllables. There can be more or fewer syllables in a line but they should follow that general pattern.

The first 2 stanza are called the octave and usually (but not always) ask a question the last stanza is the sextet which answers the question. There are variations to this form. Such as an octave of ABAB ABAB, or a sextet of CDCCDC or CDCDCD.
This will be updated with more poetry forms later.

Well yeah. It is also unfair to read classics and let beauty flow unto your works while others just bash their keyboards with their angsty feelings.

Most people write free verse, or simple rhyme scheme.
Its called poetic liscence. basically you can write anything and it's considered art.

Writing how you feel is easy. Think of it like this: Making a stew where you just chuck a load of food in a pot and boil it is very straight forward. Anyone can do it. It'll taste like shit but I'm sure a lot of 'loce' went into making that stew.
On the other hand you can follow some rules and make a tasty Japanese meal.
The rules of poetry aren't there to make life hard. They're there to turn the mundane English language into something beautiful. When you understand poetry that uses one of the many ideas of form and metre you realise how dull and lacklustre free verse truly is.

Hmm. I suppose my poems are more freeverse with no rhyming, but when they rhyme they turn into songs lol.

Poems Can Be Songs & Songs Can Be Poems !
Will you blink ?
What do you think ?
Also i dont know if it applies to english poetry but in spanish poetry there is a rule because of the pronounciation of the entonation of the words to classify the verse
Also i know the rythm structure and that
Such as AABB , ABAB , ABCABC, AABAA and more though.

Poetry itself cannot be confine to rhyming or syllables because poetry has a different definition to each person that's what makes us special.

RE: Poem guide
Saying that freeform poetry doesn't have the potential to be beautiful is pathetic. I mostly write freeform, so no, u.
