Common arguments against vegetarianism and replies

Rockit:
Could you please rewrite the first paragraph, cause I'm not sure I understand what you're trying to say.
Can't you understand that it is NOT free choice? Meat eating is not only cruel and inhumane, but it actually destroys the earth! It's like passive smoking but a thousand times worse. It's fucking respectless to say the least.

What I was saying was; Just because humans have found quicker and more effective ways to kill prey, doesn't mean that the animals are defenseless, It just means the humans have overcome that barrier.

And deciding not to eat meat IS free choice. I'm choosing to eat meat, that is my free choice.

I hate the phrase 'in-humane'. Animals are NOT human, (I'm not saying they shouldn't be treated with the proper respect, but using the the phrase
in-humane' isn't quite right)
How does eating meat Destroy the earth? Eating meat is nothing like smoking, not even in a metaphoric way.
Eating the meat keeps the circle of life going; If we didn't eat other animals, there would be no circle, and everything would be out of proportion.
Also, If people never ate meat, if they never event thought about the concept, humans wouldn't be what they are today.
Everyone is free to make their own decisions, but I will continue to eat meat, not just because it tastes good, but because meat is part of a balanced, healthy diet. You may be able to get the nutrients you need from things besides meat, but nothing will ever replace eating meat.

On a side note:
I have vegetarian/vegan friends.
From my experience, they get sick WAY more often, they have less energy that the norm, I've even noticed that their growth rate is slowed.
(Mind you I have more than 3 or 4 friends that are Vegetarians.)

Acctually about you saying that all vegitarians are as healthy as people who eat meat
From my experience..
No

I have two vegitarian friends
Both of them suffer from anemia(sp?)
And have to take iron pills regularly to prevent them from getting seriously sick
Oh and don't say 'they dont know what they're doing'
Because they do
They both eat a variety of vegtables, including beans, mushrooms and other foods high in iron
And both of them get sick much much more often
Funny how you need to know how to be a vegitarian, bu if you eat meat you don't need some 'guidebook'

Oh by the way
You annoy me with your 'holyer-than-thou' attitude
It's me choice to eat meat
dont call me a murderer, or say that im destroying the world
or GTFO

Yeah, they get sick way more often, have less energy (if any) to use, are doing worse in Physical Education, and overall show early signs of great problems ahead. Their immune system is open to things we are normally immune against, seeing as that's how weak they become.

And I agree with the "holyer-than-though" attitude, I'm getting sick of it really quickly, stop trying to defend something that doesn't even work. Enough with your paragraphs of bullshit to try and defend vegans/vegetarians. It isn't working, enough with the false "I'm better than you" attitude.

I never get ill.

I also hate preachers though!
There is nothing wrong with talking about vegetarianism, and showing people other options, but when it's forced on people, it just becomes very negative.
Forcing your views on others shouldn't be done. Which is why PETA are rubbish!

I also don't like the idea of people telling me I'm unhealthy and an idiot for choosing not to eat meat.

Playing the devil's advocate, it does sound like the people you're basing that opinion off of haven't fully educated themselves about the vegetarian/vegan lifestyle. From what I've personally witnessed, many vegetarians who know what they are doing are just as healthy, if not healthier, than any other person. And simply attributing all those negatives to their choice of lifestyle is assuming the worst with notic concrete to fall back on, so I don't fully agree with it.

I'm mostly basing my views on two specific people whom I know, so I'm not stating facts either. However, they've been vegetarians/vegans for 14 resp. 25 years, so I'm thinking that counts for something.

Yeah, you're not gonna be very healthy if you're vegetarian but don't cook.

If you cook your own meals properly, then you get lovely tasting food with all the nutrients you need!

I have no problems with vegetarians, I actually genuinely envy people who have can take the time and effort to not eat meat and try to have a different lifestyle.

But having the "holier-than-thou" attitude gives a bad name to calm and non-radical vegetarians/vegans.

I'll also note that it is still not as successful as normal consumption and proper nutrition.
Even those that (Think they) know what they are doing, are having animal extract.

OMG people cook vegetables

How is this different to cooking meat? it kinda kills the argument about having to cook meat. I'm pretty sure I've heard of people getting sick from eating raw vegetables.

It isn't different. lol.
Meat, you just cook. With veggies, there are ways to cook it right, and wrong. Cook it wrong, and its hard to eat and/or disgusting tasting.

Yep, often contains raw meat, but people still eat it and don't get sick from it. people are more likely to get sick from eating unhygienically prepared salad, than they are from eating raw meat.

Yeah, you can eat raw meat, people eat raw bacon all the time.

Nexus, you are right, there are a lot of well hidden meat sources in apparently vegetarian food. Fortunatly, I do a lot of research into what I eat and I'm confident I don't eat anything to do with meat.
I have made mistakes in the past, only recently I discovered that Orange Fanta has fish in it!
I no longer drink it. But I don't feel bad for drinking it in the past.
