How to keep your world turning [for those who are depressed]

How to keep your world turning [for those who are depressed]

Depression.

The world doesn't understand you. It's really painful, your emotions running wild without anyone knowing, without anyone caring. Sometimes, you want to cry, sometimes you just sit there, all silent, cold and mute. It's easy to lose yourself in all those tears, it's easy to drown yourself with painful emotions. You think: Ah, this must be depression. I am feeling it now, and it hurts me so much. You feel so helpless - how do you fight something that does not have any physical form? It grows inside you, feeding on those sad circumstances in your life, making you its slave.

It hurts

It hurts

It hurts

Do you hear it now? The song? The pretty pretty song?

....

I'm sorry, that was needlessly dramatic. Let's try again...

You are depressed. You don't need help. That, most certainly, is obvious. Why would you? Even if you can't bear this utter sadness you feel, you can just end your life anyway. Heck, it's your own body, you should be able to do whatever you want. Right?

Right. Which means you should also consider the choices and give it an equal chance. On one side there's life. On another, there's death. If you chose death, you end all your suffering. If you choose life, you continue with suffering. With this, death sure sounds appealing. But that's messed-up, because you haven't seen Paris Hilton yet, or met your crush Bruce Willis, or shook hands with Samuel Jackson in hopes that some of his badass-ness would rub on you, or

it is messed-up because our human rationale sees death as tragic, death as man's ultimate enemy. A disease that cannot be cured.

“One day your life will flash before your eyes. Make sure its worth watching.” - David Harkins

Did you see that? That is one beautiful quote. Take your life away, and as you succumb to the pain of dying, reels of a worthless life will flash before your eyes, scenes of grief and despair, of giving up and allowing yourself to be a slave to something that doesn't even physically exist - that's a terrible thought. You never won in life, and you'll vanish into oblivion without even doing anything right.

You know why bomberman is dancing rght now? Because I have the goodness to present you with some practical tips on combatting depresion (and the dark monsters under your bed).

1. Gingko Biloba. It's a herbal treatment, which you can take with it brewed into some kind of drink (bitter). Good news is, some juice/sports/energy/penguin drinks have this one as part of their ingredients.

2. Eat lots of tuna. They're yummy, and they're healthy. They have omega 3s that helps combat cancer and (perhaps more importantly), calm down depressive persons. I don't know how, but omega tuna does the job. With a smile.

Here's another one from some random website:

"Although extreme treatment is often needed, sometimes just changing your routine can cure a major depression. If you feel trapped in your life, try getting out of town for a few days. If you feel chronically stressed out, try setting aside some time every night to do something that you love without any pressure, or need to deliver results. If your major depression seems to stem from feeling isolated, try getting involved with a social group and getting out a little more. It is your life, and you might be amazed at the dramatic results that can come from simply deciding to take charge of it."

Take charge of your own life. Going to a psychiatrist or psychologist is an excellent first step towards treatment. They re not evil. They do not eat you up or stare at you until you turn to stone. They're professionals; they spent a quarter of their life learning something in order for them to be equipped in helping people like you. Doesn't that make you feel special? They learned it just for you.

You only have to believe in yourself that you don't need help - I wasn't being sarcastic before. You really don't. What you need is a support, something on which you can step on in order to pluck up that juicy star apple from the sky. You can step on their head if you like to (that would be figurative, of course), and that single action would make all the difference in the world. Don't think you're doing yourself a disservice by going to them. You want the suffering to end - this is the first step.

And thus ends today's lesson on depression. For anyone wondering, I made this thread because of the alarming level of people here who seeks help from other members. Having a listening ear for your problems is great, but if you're clinically and disablingly depressed, a professional listening ear will do wonders that will be celebrated in all existing galaxies. Intergalactic wine included.

Before we part (no, I'm not crying okay?), here is a sweet, short poem that could hopefully put a smile on evryone's face.

Life is precious, Love is kind,
If you seek then you shall find.
If this wish can make it true
All good things shall come to you.
Hide not away, come to the light
NEVER give up without a fight.
The Dark is cold, but the Sun is warm
We shall not let you come to harm.
You're not alone, your friends are Here
Don't give in - defeat the fear.
It's not all-powerful, it CAN be beat
You're too good to deserve defeat.
So stay alert, of the Dark beware
If we can, we will help - this we swear.

Now go and save yourself.

Ive seen depression.....(my mother)

I think I suffer from a mild form of it....

Id take the iron and multi-vitaims my dad gave me more often, but they give me REALLY REALLY pain full cramps in my stomach...

like going without eating for two days while having menstrual cramps....

OUCH...

there is good advice in there.

I know that one of my moms many problems was being around my Dad. Now that sshe has her own place shes a lot happier...that and living up against Audobon bird sancuary...

I dont really feel depressed, more un-emthusiastic..like sometimes I feel to wiped to pick up a pencil or clean my room.

but it doesnt last too long..

one tip Id like to add to Popes tips and stuffs is...
to read or write. Reading takes you somewhere ealse, and when you close the book, or put down the pen, after a while you'll should feel better..

also sleeping...

your brain is more open to truths when you are asleep. When your awake you conscience is interfering with everything, making you ignorant to what really matters, or whats really wrong..

hey there i know exactly what you are going through

by bodiemod10 on 05-12-2008 2:34 pm

[align=center]i am going to let you know right now i know exactly what you are going through.everything you said makes such perfect sence!! people are always probably telling you to just get over it and move on. but its not as simple as just forgetting sommething huge that happened to you and that you hav=d no control over that completely sucks. its like even if your having a really good dya and u dont think about that moment or day in your life it can always come up again. especially if you are having another horrible day. but you pretty much eventually have to say-you know what screw you.you dont mean shit to me. and i could care less about you.it wont solve the problem or get rid of it. but it might make you feel better. I didn't know that for a fact but I noticed that I was in a better mood whenever I ate fish.
