Going to expand on this.

Post-Hardcore, while including what Gabe has described here, is a lot broader of a genre. Post-Hardcore is to hardcore punk as post-punk is to punk rock. It takes a lot of influence from hardcore but tried to expand the sound far beyond three angry chords for two minutes. Early bands doing this include Minutemen, Husker Du, Big Black, NoMeansNo, Fugazi, and so on.

I always thought Alesana was considered screamo, especially since they're classified as that everywhere, but please, don't bash. If you all insist they're post-hardcore, then I'll accept that, all I know is that they scream and I like the sound of it Smile

However, I wanted to check out some of the actual screamo music, and I'm liking this Circle Takes The Square Smile XD

-cradel of filth,angel of death(it's a slayer song)
-bring me the horizon,black & blue
-a day to remember,the down fal of us all
they do scream in parts of ther songs but they also sing

The word "screamo" in itself just makes me want to facepalm. Not including the fact Killswitch Engaged, Cradle of Filth, and BMTH just got associated with it.

Edit: And before I get yelled at for that post, I'd just like to say. By "Screamo" making me want to facepalm, I meant it in the way of what this thread has just proved. It gets misused so often to the point that I've wanted to strangle people. Going back and reading the whole thread, I saw someone call Suicide Silence screamo.... For fux sake you guys. You don't have to know everything about music. That's not what anyone is asking. But if you say you're a die hard fan of a band, or it's your favorite genre. At least have some knowledge to it backing you up. Maybe it's just me, but I like reading into things like that and educating myself on what I'm putting into my ears.

A few weeks ago I over heard this girl talking about how she went to her "first screamo show" the night before... That show was Emmure, Oceano, and Evergreen Terrace. All I could do was shake my head and bite my tongue.
