Some of this is written by me and some of it is copy and paste from different sites.

SUMMARY:

Jack's Mannequin is a piano rock band from Orange County, California. A side project of Andrew McMahon, originally from Something Corporate, the band was formed in 2004 and released their first album in August 2005. In June of that year, McMahon was diagnosed with late stage acute lymphoblastic leukemia, but made a full recovery. His album, Everything in Transit, was received with positive response by fans and critics. They are currently signed to Sire Records.

ORIGIN OF NAME:

The name was made when Andrew McMahon combined one of his songs, "Dear Jack" and a name he was thinking about "The Mannequin". He was tired of "the" bands so he made Jack's Mannequin.

THE FOUNDATION:

http://www.dearjackfoundation.com/

The Dear Jack Foundation is a non-profit charitable organization dedicated to funding cancer research and was founded July 2006 by leukemia survivor and Jack's Mannequin/Something Corporate front man Andrew McMahon. "Having fought my own battle with Leukemia I feel an intense personal obligation to use whatever resources are at my disposal to raise both money and awareness for the countless young people who are being diagnosed with similar blood diseases. I hope to focus attention on the grossly understudied demographic of cancer patients falling between the ages of 15 and 22. It is also my hope to use the Dear Jack fund to provide outreach and assistance to families coping with cancer" says McMahon.
