Its produced, whiny, and it sounds like every other lame band you hear on the radio.

Yes it is, it's very different. (Maybe I'm just saying that because I LIKE Simple Plan & Good Charlotte)

If you think pop punk is a rip-off of "emo," you're silly. Emotional hardcore sounds nothing like pop punk.
Just because I can't change everything doesn't mean I can't change anything

Its nothing like punk.
Punk (atleast the first wave) was all about anger and energy and going against the mainstream,
but pop punk is basically just pop that tries to sound like punk.

The name of pop punk is a complete oxymoron,
how can something be pop and punk at the some time?
They're polar opposites.

If you listen to a simple plan song, it really doesnt sound much different than a jonas brothers song.

1)Wich song? You are saying two totally diffrent bands sound exactly the same. Simple Plan, Blink 182, Plus 44 ect.. use the high winny, fake british accent for effect. Or at lest they used to, SP grew up. The Jonas Brother won't, because by my watch, in another 2-3 years they won't be around anymore.

2)Simple Plan has been my favorite band since day 1. My brother turned me on to them when I was 11.

3)Just because they are on the radio means they are posers? I don't think so. It means that a lot of people like them.

4) I hate people who say "oh, so and so is a terrible band. they are so fake. So and So is a lot better." It is all in your tastes. It's like saying that Rap is bad and Country sucks. (They don't.)

5)XjetxblackxmirrorX: So your are calling:
I was going to waste my time and list out every single band starting from 1. But it isn't worth it.

1) i wasnt saying the two bands sound exactly alike, they just both sound whiny and fake with bad lyrics.
and no one knows if these bands will be alive in two or three years.

2) i dont hold it against you for liking them. i just think they suck.

3)being on the radio doesnt MAKE them posers. but they sound like all other mediocre bands on the radio.
(no originality)

4)if a band does sound fake, are you not allowed to say they do?

EDIT- and @tom, my original post was saying pop punk is NOT i ripoff of emo

Horrorcore? FUCKING LOL NO SUCH THING GENUIS

I think he meant Horror hardcore which IS a genre of music. It's like Horror Punk and Hardcore Punk, AFI and The Misfits have this type of sound.

Don't go off at him for abbreviating, the term emo only exists because people abbreviated emotional hardcore and you don't have a problem with that.

Pop-punk has existed since the days of the Sex Pistols and the Ramones.

Now, I know none of you can think in chronological terms, but that means pop-punk has existed far longer than emo has.

But now a days, being popular means selling out and making your music sound like shit. Pop Punk now is just very mainstream alternative rock bands.

Just like the Sex Pistols and the Ramones did.

But yeah I agree on the latter half of that post.

My thoughts exactly.

ETF sold out long ago when they STARTED. None of their "old" stuff sounds all that original.

I do, however, like Craig Mabbitt. I'm a big fan of Blessthefall, and it's a bit sad that he had to leave.
He's a very talented musician.

yeah i know htey are kinda sell out ish. but i think there loss of Ronnie is kinda de-hyping that. I dont think people really see them the say way without him.

i also prefer Craig, hes alot better than Ronnie.

Ronnie is such a bum. It's only the fangirls who seem to miss him.

Craig is so much more kick-awesome.

ETF definitely has a different sound with the "Craig" album. I kinda like the direction they're going in. Hopefully they'll get out of their little rut, and become a noteworthy band. They certainly have potential.

hellz to the yeah. I didn't even liek Ronnie's voice much. The direction they've taken is definitely better.
It seriosuly annoys me how everyone that doesn't like them anymore blames Craig >.>

I don't have a problem with bands I like going mainstream. It's only when they are forced by their record label to change their sound to a more commercial one; one that appeals to a broader audience that I may have a problem with, depending on if I like the new sound or not.

Going mainstream doesn't automatically make a band sell-outs.

I really hate it when that happens, especially when the new sound is what the label thinks is popular, not what people really want.

Sometimes it just makes the accessible to a wider audience.

emo is the music, scene is the fashion

Pop-punk is its own thing. And its more likely that what you think is emo is really pop-punk.

I really don't have a problem with pop-punk. Its generally catchy and tolerable.

And this is in the wrong section.
