Hey everyone, I'm Ash, and when I introduced myself here I make pretty much all of these mistakes, so here are...
Ten things to do when making your intros:
#1 Know that we are just as shy.
We are just as anxious when it comes to first meetings, so no need to be afraid to introduce yourself to us, we understand what that is like, really, and, we are probably just as nervous as you are.
#2 Don't come on too fast.
Its a little scary for us when you start out giving out your myspace and asking for pms and adds if we are just getting to know you. It's kind of like walking down the street saying hi and then offering your phone number and address, I mean we just met...
#3 Respond to hellos.
Hey we're happy to meet you, but we want to know that you are too, say high back, who knows, maby we can be friends.
#4 Keep it nice and neat.
TyPiNg LiKe ThIs MaKeS oUr EyEs BlEeD a LiTtLe,
space things out and use good formatting to keep things tidy and nice. Also follow grandma's advise and use correct grammar and spelling, incorrect spelling makes you look like you didn't really care enough to at least look at it first and that doesn't make us feel very good...
#5 Don't overload.
We like to hear about you but it gets hard to read a massive biography, and we don't like to feel like we are in AP lit analyzing an entire novel, reading paragraph after paragraph.
#6 Don't put too little.
We do want to know about you too, tell us more about yourself than your name, likes and interests are good here, and go further put in all the cool relevant things...
#7 Title...
Make your title unique, something that really relates to your personality. And DONT USE ALL CAPS IT'S LIKE YELLING AND IT'S A TINGE BIT SCARY...
#8 Uniquely you...
We want to hear about what makes you unique, beyond the obvious things like “I'm emo” or “I'm new to the forums.” Put all of the cool interesting stuff about you, try decorating your post a bit with pictures or maby even a video introduction from youtube...
#9 Go out and post.
No need to wait for us to respond, go and start posting, seeing you around will make us less anxious and want to post and comment on your intro.
#10 Fill in your profile.
When we read your intro we probably will want to know more about you, add pictures, fill in the about me, all of that stuff, intros are short and sweet but we may want to get to know how cool you are, and, a full profile makes us less worried that you are a creepy stalker...
Please tell me if you have a suggestion to improve this guide, or what you think of it. ^-^
If you are curious here was my intro.
