How long did it take you?

I really want to know how long it took everyone to 'move on' from the person they love after a break up. I say 'move on' because I feel using the phrase 'getting over' isn't right since you don't ever truly and completely remove your feelings from someone you love. Or maybe some of you have, but I want to hear how it took until you stopped hurting. I'm in a horrible place right now I'm not sure how much longer I can take it. Its been 2 and a half months of feeling the worst I ever have in my life, and for 2 1/2 months straight, every day.

I only had one break up and it was just a fling thing between me and one of my friends.
It was not big deal to either of us really.

well after my first break up it took me a couple of months because it was my first but the last realtionship it took me nine hours and then i was making out with my best friend.....nine months on and i am now happy with ollie (the best friend i made out with XD)

you know i am still not sure if i am even over my first breakup... i dont think you ever forget it... but you do move on... me, i took a week or two.

I think I'm pretty much over him...I still miss him form time to time...but I think it's that I miss his freindship. ooh well

It's hard to say.
There's a big difference to right after, a couple of weeks, and later.

For me the difference is that the breakup wasn't as bad as losing them as friends.

How long did it take, all in all? Maybe one or two years? It's too long ago, I can't realy remember.

well mine was someone I liked a lot and was very, very close friends with, I wasn't in love with him. But it took me a while. I had feelings for him for over a year and it took maybe 6 months, it's still kind've hard to talk about him or see him, even a year later.

A guy I was madly in love with dumped me one night.
Sadness stopped the next morning.

I rarely get attached.

But when my girlfriend left me, I got over it really fast.. Let's say 30 mins.

Meeting someone else helps

3-4 minutes rinse an repeat for me

I normally do the breaking up.
