I don't think it'll help but Im used to putting on the "normal" or "happy" face. But when I use that I know deep down I want to ear up myself. I'm going through that right now but w/my grandpa.XnoelsxradX wrote: i just found out my grandmothers going to pass soon, and i just dont thik ill be able to look at her without tearing up, eh anyone care to help?
Yeah sorry it's the best I can think of at the moment. When I found out it was hard, but I use a smile to keep the comfort up, because if you hint then they can be miserable, sometimes its better not to know. (for either side)

I think your grandma would like it if you wouldn't look sad. I know i wouldn't want sad ppl around me in my last days. Just talk like you always did with her.

WELL...SHE'S STILL UR GRANDMA AND EVEN THOUGH IT HURTS YOU....YOU STILL NEED TO SPEND AS MUCH TOME WITH HER AS YOU CAN BEFORE SHE PASSES...I MEAN I'M PRETTY SURE THAT WOULD BE BEST FOR BOTH OF YOU....BESIDES IF YOU DO GET EMOTIONAL WHEN YOU'RE WITH HER THEN THAT'S A GREAT OPPRTUNITY TO TELL HER HOW YOU FEEL ABOUT HER BEFORE SHE'S GONE!!!
I'M SORRY ABOUT YOUR SITUATION THUOGH!!!!

Ive encountered a similar situation, though it was my uncle.
I remember my aunt telling me that even though he and everybody else knew he was dying and couldnt help it even if we tried to, we tried to give him the most fun we could in his last days alive, so that he could die happy.
If you show sadness toward them, it only breaks their hearts knowing that theyre giving you so much pain and suffering and also knowing they cant do a thing to help you or themselves...
Just try to make the best of a bad situation... and be sure to tell her you love her! I regret not telling my uncle that...

From the opposite side of things, it was probably the hardest thing for her to inform you guys what was going to happen. I know when I told my family about deciding to quit chemotherapy that it broke there hearts, but we try and enjoy the time we do have with each other instead of thinking about the worst.

Everybody has got to go someday.
Wouldn't you rather look at her, remember her face, have some last happy memories?.

Remember the happy times you've shared with her. My grandmother died a couple years ago, and it never really sunk in. I knew it was going to happen, but it happened so suddenly. I had to go to her viewing, funeral, travel a couple days across country to her burial, and saw her each time, and it was just so surreal. I saw people crying around me, and knew I was supposed to be sad, but somehow I couldn't be...Partially because I was always remembering the fun times I had with her.
And I found out my other grandmother is due to pass anytime now, we found out about a year ago, and I saw her about two months ago, for her 80th birthday, and I just kept looking at her and her apartment thinking "And she's going to die?" because she was...is...so full of life still.
So smile, remember the good times, remind her of the good times. Its okay to cry, I mean its your grandmother, but...Don't mourn her for her death, or the day you found out she was going to die. Celebrate her for her life, and all the good times you had with her.

My granmother died a about 5 years ago, and I knew she was really sick I was young at the time and knew she was sick but didn't think she would die, within a year after I last visited her she was in a nursing home dying. My dad went to say goodbye, and teared up like a baby, I would have to seeing her there in the back of nursing home dying, it made me cry hearing about. Well we were really close, and it hurt really bad when she died, so bad after that I got really emotionally sick that I even wanted to commit suicide, but I didn't and I was taken to a Shrink and given Prozac, now that I think about her, it still hurts. But The good times make the pain go away.
I'm a little better, but not quite, my 'sob'story is true, but you're old enough to understand that granparents get old and that dying is part of life, at the time my grandmother passed away I didn't understand. THe last time I saw her, i guess I kind of knew I wouldn't see her again, so I think it would be great if you looked at your grandmother until the end, for her sake, I guess she wouldn't want to be not looked at just because she's dying.
