Guide to Screaming:

You want to form a band? You want to have someone who is doing screamo? Well this is the guide that will help you accomplish this. I cover diffrent genres and styles of screaming that are in the music world today. I give them my own self proclaimed names, but im sure you will understand what I mean. Be sure before you scream you must ALWAYS use it from your diaphrame(failz at spelling)

Types of Screaming:

Screamo - Screamo is commonly seen in screamo bands. And is the most popular use of screaming in the music buisness today.

Bellowing - Commonly seen in death metal/black metal bands. Another alternative would be the music band deathklok. The Bellow is a very popular in the Metal world.(Yes those are goat heads on pikes in the video.. they are real)

Breathing Out(<_<)- Just one of the most simple to do, and you can talk while breathing out and in so you save energy to!

There are more types of screaming which I will come up with later

How to do it:

Screamo- This is a very difficult to do only because it requires you to push back on your throat using your muscles, like if you were swollowing something only you hold it there. When this has been accomplished make sure you have breath in your lungs. Then let out your voice and alter it a little bit(This part should come naturally) and you will have a screamo voice. There are other varients but this is how I do mine.

Bellowing- Bellowing is simple to do flex your stomache and chest and breath out while making your voice very deep and you will be able to do it. Again make sure you have breath in your lungs. There is also another type of bellow you can use with this, just puck your lips and breath in and you will have you throat vibrate and a you will make ooooOOOOOo sound mixed with creepy haunted house wooden floor!

Breathing Out- This is so simple to do you can breath in and out while doing it so it dosent matter if you have oxygen in your lungs or not and it makes you have endurence during your preformance as well. Flew your stomache and while you breath in or out deepen your voice a little bit. You can do the same with bellowing but this method is much faster.

Downsides
(To lazy to write it up so I just changed the words a little =D)

All the techniques I've listed are effective but only if done properly, and of course your gonna have to practice to get them right but I feel its also neccesary to include some of the downsides to screaming. I've practiced for over a year now and I've learned from past experiences that doing this the wrong way will result in damage to your vocal cords and if taken further will ultimately fxck your speaking voice and your singing one too. (Sonny Moore for example)

Yeah, I'd just like to add that most screamers don't exactly 'scream' but its more of technique where you tighten your vocal cords and force air through them without hurting yourself, you have to practice to get it right and over time you'll get loads better at it but at first you'll probably get a bit sore.

And if you exhaust your voice just rest it till the next day.
I find that this technique is effective and doesn't damage your vocal cords besides leaving your throat a tad hoarse and that's only if your a novice.

To avoid the problem though, (at least to a certain extent) and as is used with any singing excercise, one of the key things to do is to drink a LOT of water.

Drink water before screaming, during screaming, and after screaming.
It helps keep your throat/cords hydrated and you won't end up coughing up your heart in the middle of a scream.

If you try to scream at the top of your lungs consistently then you'll end up hurting your vocal cords and getting some really nasty buggers called "Vocal Nodules''.
They're painful and if severe enough they require surgery.
DON'T USE THAT TECHNIQUE
It'll end up screwing you over.

Hope you enjoyed this, im sure I made some mistakes cause I practice screamo alot so it probably just seems natural to me but hey =D

Also this might help a little not much im sure

Thanks yourthenewcancer for the downsides sections..

you have to stick your fist on your stomach and breathe outward letting a low scream out.
it will make you tired when you stop, but you will see a big difference in how you do it without the fist and with the fist
its also good for when you want to improve your singing

inhaling would be harder,
screaming from diaphragm works easier, and you'll see how once you try
i'll post a video soon on how to

Well...I'm just gonna go out on a limb here and play devils advocate for a minute.
All the techniques you've listed are effective but only if done properly, and of course your gonna have to practice to get 'em right but I feel its also neccesary to include some of the downsides to screaming. I've practiced for over a year now (two years pretty much) and I've learned from past experiences that doing this the wrong way will result in damage to your vocal cords and if taken further will ultimately fxck your speaking voice and your singing one too.

My inhale screaming and pig squeel is good and i found thats easier to learn.
For diaphragm beginners, you'll now you using it when your chest gets pushed out, also remember to stand up as it helps.
I do it for the lmao's, rofl's and lol'z.
