This thread is full of BAD advice
What has been said in this thread is (mostly) bad advice and I would not advise anyone to just go ahead and start screaming.
ESPECIALLY the bit about tightening up your vocal chords.
Please guys, do not strain your voice to produce a scream.
The best way to learn to scream is to learn to sing first.
I don't mean become a brilliant singer, but learn to project your voice using your diaphragm (thankyou to the people who brought this up already).
Volume comes from your stomach, not from your throat.
It's very important to learn to control your diaphragm whilst singing first. Before you begin screaming.
If you don't, then you will end up hurting your throat, and will end up permanently damaging it. You will also experience headaches.
If you do it properly and breathe from the diaphragm, then you will reduce the stress on your throat and stay relaxed.
Relaxation is the key!
Being tense is BAD!
For the record, drinking alcohol doesn't improve your voice (although, it may make you think you sound better) in fact, it dehydrates you, drys up your throat and potentially causes damage to it.
Drinking water actually doesn't improve your voice either, although it is good for a sore throat.
