Flag Salute and Pledge of Allegiance

Flag Salute and Pledge of Allegiance

by cutiepiex0x0 on 10-03-2008 9:20 pm

This is quoted from the students rights handbook
"Students have the right to refuse to salute the flag or to recite the
“Pledge of Allegiance” if they have any conscientious objections to either
of these acts.123 School authorities may not judge whether such objections
are sincere or reasonable.
In 1978, a federal court struck down a section of the New Jersey
statutes that required students who objected to the flag salute to stand
during its recitation.124 Students may sit quietly during the flag salute and
those who do not wish to participate may not be required to leave the
room.125
22
In providing equal access to all student groups, the school must ensure
that the group’s meetings are voluntary and student-initiated; there is no
sponsorship of the meetings by the school or government; school or
government personnel are present at religious meetings only in a
nonparticipatory capacity; the meetings do not interfere with educational
activities; and non-school persons do not direct, conduct, control or
regularly attend activities of student groups.143"

I don't know why people wont do the Pledge of Allegiance. It's to your country. The "under God" part is about how the countries morals were developed of which led to our laws.

The same people that don't do the Pledge of Allegiance seem to be the people trying to change this country for the worst.

Everyone at my school stands and puts their hand over their heart, but they don't say anything. It's kinda weird.

Myself, I'd never do the pledge. But that can have something to do with me not being American. ^^
Yet another radical statement from your dear friend and philanthropist Venny.

As a child who didn't choose to be born in America, I understand if they choose not to salute and pledge. They may well dislike the country.
However, once they become old enough to move to another country by themself [or once they're out of education?] and they choose to stay in America, then they should be expected to pledge.

Can't even Pledge Allegiance to their own country.

The second guy in the picture.

On a more serious and less cynical note, I think it's bull shit that the pledge is optional or removed from school. If they don't want to pledge allegiance to this country they can gtfo. I think it should be considered treason.

Don't forget that a lot of them already have pledged their allegiance to another country... *cough*Mexico*cough*
