First cousin relationships

Recently i've been hearing alot about relationships between families, mostly between first cousins. Though the most common one is between a male cousin and a female cousin so the most people have to say about it is that if the female got pregnant it could cause health problems for the child. This confuses me because does that make up most peoples opinions about the relationship being 'wrong' because the female could get pregnant or because they are related even though in Britain it's not illegal? what about two first cousins who are female? and a biological child obviously isnt a problem. I'd really like your opinions on this.

The actual incidence of birth defects between first cousins is actually pretty low. However, that's still too close to blood for me.

I would consider getting together with a third or fourth cousin.
First is too close for me, since I've never met any of my third or fourth cousins while I've known all my first cousins since we were really young (even so, one of them is pretty *cough* unbelievably hawt).

If my first cousins were unbelievably, undeniably the hottest woman on earth, than I would cross the line.

But, while my cousins are very cute chicks, and I do see similarities in them and the woman I am attracted to, there is no way I would ever willingly cross that line mentally or physically.

And you are right, it can cause defects were a hetrosexual couple to have a child if they were first cousins...it generally doesnt show for the first couple of generations, but if first cousins continued to have children together for a long period of time, eventually they would have severe disfigurations and mental issues...
