Coon Stripes!

Coon Stripes!

Want coon stripes such as Kiki Kannibal or this other dude?

Okay, heres a, "Do it yourself" guide to coon stripes... Yes, I did mine myself so i know it works.

1) Straighten the part of your hair that you want the coon stripes in. Pin the rest of your hair back; make sure when its not straightened, it's still all together and random pieces dont fly all over the place.

2) Take tape(I recommend duct tape) and wrap it around the hair that you're working with. Do this in the spots you don't want to be dyed... So basically make coon stripes with the tape and make sure your spacing is even(The tape will come out when your hair gets wet in a further step).

3) Mix your hair dye and make sure that your hair is pinned back, so you don't dye anything accidentally, 'kay?

4) The parts of your hair that you didn't wrap the tape around will be your stripes. So, WITH YOUR PLASTIC GLOVES ON get some hair dye and rub it into the hair. Make sure that the dye gets on all of the hair that you are coloring. You might want to hold the tape while you are doing this, just in case the dye starts to seep under it.

5) Wait the amount of time the hair dye takes to develope, and rinse it all out... The tape should come right out with the water.

Viola! Now all you need to do is dry your hair, and you have your goregeous coon stripes! And all it took was five easy steps! =]

P.S. If you have black hair you're going to have to bleach the sections that you are changing, and then put whatever color dye in, kay!

Hmm...this doesn't look quite as cool as the leopard print stuff, but it's much much more realistic...I can see it working, I wonder how many people have done this.

I'm seriously considering it.

Cool. ^-^

I'm glad your trying something new, (though I recommend using temp-black dye first to see what it looks like.)

- An easier way to do coon stripes is with mascara. And it is washable.

Mkay, here are the pics. I took them to complete the tutorial a little.

1. The taped hair. I used duct tape and I have four pieces of hair there.

2.

Before the dying, lol. What you will need:
1. A brush and something to put the dye on (you will have to blend as much as you will need, or use everything. I think it's pretty bad to waste so much dye when you're using that little so I always take as much as I need. It's the 6th time I use the dye on the pic and almost half of it remains.)
2. Something to cover the area that you're working on. I use a plastic bag. It's good to know that most moms get very upset when there's dye in their bathroom!
3. Hair dye (Very Happy)
4. Plastic gloves. I use these small plastic bags that you put food in.
5. And the hair.

3. The dying. Blend as much as you need (I use 1/4 of both bottles that's in the dye kit) and use the brush to put the dye on. Be careful so the dye doesn't get in under the tape (happened to me.).

4.
Rinse! After a while, remove the tape (pretty hard) and rinse even more. Wash with shampoo once or twice, until _all_ dye is gone.
Use conditioner afterwards.

5. Blow dry, and it's finished! Very Happy (horrible pic. but look how funny the hair looks! ^___^)

The result:

The colours are a little different, it's more black and pink, and less blue and purple.
