Rockit:
Could you please rewrite the first paragraph, cause I'm not sure I understand what you're trying to say.
Can't you understand that it is NOT free choice? Meat eating is not only cruel and inhumane, but it actually destroys the earth! It's like passive smoking but a thousand times worse. It's fucking respectless to say the least.
What I was saying was; Just because humans have found quicker and more effective ways to kill prey, doesn't mean that the animals are defenseless, It just means the humans have overcome that barrier.
And deciding not to eat meat IS free choice. I'm choosing to eat meat, that is my free choice.
I hate the phrase 'in-humane'. Animals are NOT human, (I'm not saying they shouldn't be treated with the proper respect, but using the the phrase
in-humane' isn't quite right)
How does eating meat Destroy the earth? Eating meat is nothing like smoking, not even in a metaphoric way.
Eating the meat keeps the circle of life going; If we didn't eat other animals, there would be no circle, and everything would be out of proportion.
Also, If people never ate meat, if they never event thought about the concept, humans wouldn't be what they are today.
Everyone is free to make their own decisions, but I will continue to eat meat, not just because it tastes good, but because meat is part of a balanced, healthy diet. You may be able to get the nutrients you need from things besides meat, but nothing will ever replace eating meat.
On a side note:
I have vegetarian/vegan friends.
From my experience, they get sick WAY more often, they have less energy that the norm, I've even noticed that their growth rate is slowed.
(Mind you I have more than 3 or 4 friends that are Vegetarians.)
