"mainly rock" is kind of broad; be more specific. But a couple of my own opinions:
-Band names that go Blank & the blanks are egotistical for Blank. Don't name the band after a member of the band.
-Make your name English and pronounceable. Nothing I hate more is debating with stupid people over how to pronounce Hüsker Dü and other bands with umlauts.
-Articles (a, an, the) are a waste of space.

Don't use anything with: Bloody,dark, ripped, torn, crushed, sad, die/death, cut etc. People will groan with how cheezy your band sounds. Go for something unique and interesting.

I highly agree.
The bands with the wacky, cool, fun names are the good ones.

I had the weirdest dream ever a couple of days ago. I was in a band and we called ourselves The Goose and the Models. I was the Goose.... that was weird...
