Autism is real, but more and more kids are getting diagnosed incorrectly, I think. hence why people question if the condition is real.
Asperger's shouldn't have it's own name, It should just be called 'Mild autism'.

A.D.D. Is a Neuro-biological disorder, It's real also, read up on these things before declaring them real or not.

i know that its not all bs. i have it. as a kid i was bad i can recall not doing things as all the other kids were. and if i push my self i would be in a bad place. it wasnt fun. i can only think of the cast pains and waking up and nothing but pain around me. feeling like my hole cast was going to cave in and so were the walls.
sure there are drs that say thats what it is if they dont understand. and there always seems to ba a kind that getting told they have it and they dont. so its a tose up.

And I'm curious to know why people think Autism isn't real.
My best friends brother has Autism, and my mom's best friend's Brother has Autism.
I've also got a friend who has Asperger's... Even though I think it shouldn't have it's own name, It exists.
Does anyone want to state WHY they don't think Autism/Asperger's are real?

I agree with Gabby (rockitemokid).
If you look at medical research you'll find that these things ARE real.
Their chemical imbalances in the brain, and just because they are common, people take them as if they aren't real.

Thats like trying to say that people who have breathing problems when they sleep, are just made up things. It's a real problem, and in reality, the fact that it's common doesn't make it less real, it's a tragedy.

can i see these studies?
and proof of these chemical imbalances?

i actually know three people who i think have aspergers.

one of my friends is diagnosed with it. (not sure if he actually has it)

one of my other friends has it.

and theres also this guy in my band who i'd be surprised if he hadn't been diagnosed with it.

i know autism is real.

i think aspergers is real but i think alot of people are falsly diagnosed with it.

and i guess i made this thread because i heard of people who think autism is made up and i wanted to hear your opinion on this.

I'm not a stubborn person and if given logical fact and reasoning i'm known to change my mind. but if your claiming that you believe in autism I would like some proof or support of its existence. more then "if you knew someone with it you would know its real".

i've actually met people diagonsed with autism and aspergeres.
my highschool has a program servicing all the learning disabled kids in the area so I know alot of these kids first hand.
In my experience those diagnosed with aspergeres usually just have a hobby or two that they really enjoy and dont really care about anything else in life.
I personally know a person that easily faked a.d.d. to get ritalin.
