END OF STORY, Stop making a million effing new threads about

EMO Is a genre of Music
SCENE is the Fashion

If you're still upset about this life changing news discuss it here, any new thread about what emo is or if its good or bad or if i'm too fat or too skinny or too black or too white will get locked.

Scene is a fashion, and fashion does not discriminate, so if you think you can't be scene because your black, white, hispanic, indian, asian, whatever else is left you're wrong. Dress scene if you want. If you think you cant dress scene because you are too fat or too skinny or just a little over weight or just a little under weight you're also wrong. Dress scene if you want to

PS. Stop claiming you are emo, you are just claiming to be a poser.

What does emo mean?

Agreed! You can battle the concept of whatever bands are 'emo' or not but you can't battle the fact that you can't dress emo.

Actually, I think what he had to say was right on.

Aside from the fact that you CAN battle about dressing "emo"...
...but you would be incorrect. Laughing

I know I will probably get heckled for this but....

Emo is a genre of music: Correct

Scene is the fashion: Correct

Emo and scene are both labels: Correct

Labels are made by people: Correct

So that being said couldn't someone start a label for a style of clothing and call it "EMO".

I'm not saying that I am.

I'm just saying that it is possible.

Not correct, but the theory remains possible and seems to be moving in that direction.

Again, just so everyone is clear, I agree with Travis, but what I'm saying is possible.....

^Heehee, that gave me a humorous thought...

Your theory is plausable, definitely...and since it's possible, ANYONE can start a label out of nowhere.

For instance, let's say I'm a well established fashion designer, and I decide to create a new style of clothing called "Canned Fruit" which just as the name implies, resembles all sorts of fruit ranging from pineapples to Key limes.

After doing this, do you think the majority of the population is going to see this as a "cool" or "credible" style of dress? No. People are going to ridicule me for coming up with such a laughable idea.

I think the same could be applied to "emo" since the name implies that clothes can somehow be emotional.

Therefore it's usually left up to the majority of a populus to determine what certain styles are called, and what they are comprised of.

Although seeing as how most of...America anyway...are idiots, your idea, as I said...is plausable.

I really don't care. If someone wants to say they're emo then I get what they're saying. If someone says they listen to scene music I get what they're saying. They're both made up words anyway.

I agree with Travis. People keep on saying they're emo here (in the Philippines). No matter how hard I correct them they still say that. No one ever listens here. If they do it won't stick to their heads. It'll go through one ear and leave through the other.

I totally agree.
Communication is about being understood, not being right.

I guess you all run around and as soon as someone mentions something/someone is gay you go and say "you're not correct, gay actually means happy, it has nothing to do with sexuality", right?

So with that it would mean "emo = fashion, lifestyle, whatever" since the majority thinks that way.

This should stickied. It probably won't make them stop though. People do what they want, and they like to be sterotyped...

Actually a lot of people don't do what they want. People are sheep, Can't stop the herd from doing the same mindless thing everyday. I just hope some day people start realizing the gate is open.

And I refuse to sticky anything anymore because people don't read the damn stickies so it's pointless.

And to everyone else in this thread that are saying let them believe what they want: No, I'm sick of all these idiots running around saying they are emo when in fact, you cant be effing emo. You mind as well be running around screaming I'm a poser. If you kiddies want to be posers that is fine. Stop sugar coating their decisions with mindless bullshit. Emo is music, and that is all there is to it. Stop helping MTV bastardize the term and turn it into a label. Just another example of mindless sheep.
