anit-depressants...who's been on them?
i just got diagnosed with depression and i'm about to get on anti-depressants. some people say they help others say they didn't. i'm curious if they helped anyone on here or if i'm just getting my hopes up for nothing?

me.. im taking lexapro.. have been for more than 6 months.. im bipolar so i also tke anti-convulsants... uhhhh.. well i dont know really, i dont feel the effects... much... it helped somewhat i guess... it depends from case to case and what type of meds your taking and if you take them as perscribed by your doctor... just wait and see how it goes for you.. it aint miracle pills though so yeah its gonna take some time..
hope you'll feel better!!! *hugs*

Been on some.
Ahem...don't know whether they helped. Maybe they did, maybe the therapy helped or whatever. It got better (but i gained weight).
However you should get therapy, too, not only meds.

I'm on them now, and they seem to be helping me. But this is like the 3rd time they've upped it, since it just seems to stop working for me. I hope it doesn't stop now, cuz 200 is as far as they'll go with me.

I've actually talked with a few doctors. They say they almost never actually do anything. It's usually in everyones heads.
Or it makes it worse. The most common 2 that I hear. And theres alot of bad side affects with most, nasty stuff.

yeah, i've been on 3 different anti depressants. all for above my age. none of them worked so i've been in counselling and now im in group therapy.
fact is that for alot of people they dont work but with others they do its just how it is.
plus dont expect miracles because you wont immediately notice a difference. i got told it can take a while.
hope it works out for you

I've been on Prozac for about two years now, I definatly could tell a difference, I mean, I used to cry for no reason and I do that if I don't take my medicine for awhile, but I thinks its better than crying all the time.

I have a prescription for them but my parents REFUSES to get them for me and I'm now jobless so I can't get it..
But apparently the side affects are you feel alittle nauseus at first.
Then later on you grow back confidence and all in all you just feel better.
I dont know, really.

I take Wellbutrin XL. They kinda help a bit. If you take them correctly then they can,I think that for some people, they get used to their depression and won't want to get better because they are so used to it so therefore the meds won't work,so really it may be just that people will think that it makes them better, therefore they will start to feel better.
