a poem to my late friend

a month ago my friend commited suicide
and i wrote this villanelle, it's dedicated to him

[u][u]Dear Erick, Hope You’re Enjoying Heaven
is there anthing worth dying for
razorblades cling to wrists
collapsed on the bathroom floor

you swore you loved her more
her heart resisits
is there anything worth dying for

no matter what you’re
on your brother’s blacklists
collapsed on the bathroom floor

love doesn’t care how much you ignore
something strong exists
is there anything worth fighting for

sick of the internal war
the breakdown persists
collapsed on the bathroom floor

breaking down the locked door
it’s too late to close the slits
is there anything worth dying for
collapsed on the bathroom floor

R.I.P. Erick
There's gotta be something else out there for me
I could feel it in my heart the day I started to dream
There's more than this Midwestern town
I can't let this place keep me down
