No.
First of all, emo kids don't exist.
People can't "be" a music genre,
the fashion is called scene.
And you don't have to like certain music to be scene.

How awesome dude!
FINALLY!! Someone with sense posts this wonderful information that I've been trying to get across to some people. XD;;
But seriously, dude, what about Boy Sets Fire, By A Thread, Earth Crisis(more metalcore, but still branches off though), Eleventeen, Elliott, Falling Forward, Garrison, The Get Up Kids, The Jazz June, Park, Thursday, and Time Spent Driving?
All of these are worth mentioning as well. ;P

I think the best site about emo/screamo is Fourfa (http://www.fourfa.com/). It has a long and detailed section dedicated to all the different styles of emo, a history of emo and the whole Revolution Summer, mp3 samples, recommended records and even a list of related links. I highly recommend it for anyone who wants to get into these genres.

RE: A Basic Guide to Emotional Hardcore
i hate when people assume i love hawthorne heights just because i dress like i would listen to them. i do listen to them...but its annoying for people to assume that...especially when hawthorne heights is slightly a poser emo band. i mean the song ohio is for lovers...slightly poser-ish. but good nonetheless.

Yeah, going on a tour sponsored by Vans for a decade is totally DIY.
