#1 Not flatironing
Unless you're the one person with perfect hair you need to do it.

Not exactly. Curly hair can work sometimes just not all the time.

#3 Buying those printed jeans
You know what I mean, those ones at hot topic that are green and have the zebra print on them, yea no. (OK I didn't make that mistake but it's bad enough for me to mention.)

Printed jeans can work with the right people

#4 Over dying
Don't over dye, I mean the color fades the week later and you're like "well, it's no biggie," IT ADDS UP GUYS. Moderate your dying.

Not really. I dye my hair quite a bit and it doesn't get all messed up. Just use A LOT of conditioner.

#5 Not going to a hair stylist
Yea your friend cuts his own hair and he looks fine right? Nope, no trust here. Good stylists only, find one and stick with.

I cut my own hair. I got it styled this way by a pro but I always cut it since then.

#7 Buying only from HT
Hot Topic sure is conveniant, but yea they usually only have two to three good items PER SEASON. Don't rely on them and DON"T get hypnotized by all the "hottopicyness" it may look good on the shelf but no it can look bad on you.

Actually it's more like seven or six if you buy the good stuff that's behind everythnig else. They always put the bad stuff in front so you'll buy it. Also, Forever 21, it rocks.

#9 Believing you can find stuff at thrift stores
Maby one person in the world looks like amazing and can find stuff there but I've never had such luck.

You can amazing stuff at thrift stores just know which ones to look at.

#12 Dressing like your friends
99.999% of us don't like in an emo world, you might get initial ridicule for the deviation but trust me little groups of friends, (especially in small towns like mine) didn't get fashion at all. In retrospect they looked like crap, go with what you like and ignore the nay sayers.

I dress like my friends sometimes. We buy the same shirts and pants we just wear them different ways.

Agreed. I buy soooo much there. Including the shirt I'm wearing in my avatar. That store is really versatile. They have a million things of all different styles and you can dress then to fit almost any style you want them to.
Love it <3

Well, I've only cut my hair on my own. And those zebra striped pants can look good on some people lol

As for the thrift stores, There actually some pretty decent clothing there.

Dying your hair, well dont dye it if your just testing, you should get one of those dyes that can be washed out in the shower.

And your style, should just be YOUR, style. But as for me, I think having your own style is really hard in a society like this...

i think it's pretty silly to have rules like
ohh if you want be scene you can't wear printed jeans from hot topic
at the end of the day
are we trying to create a group of clones, or people with idea's who stand out?

there are no hot topics that i know of where i live. im stuck with surf shops mostly. a friend told me to go to jay jays but i havnt got around to it.
most of the scene shops sell REALLY expensive clothes (like $200 for pants) so yeah.

ive got most of my clothes from places like myer or target. they have a few kool clothes.

Overaccessorizing is one of the biggest mistakes people can make and it's done more than often...
Thank god I've always kept things basic...

I go for the artsy 'got dressed in the dark' look, unlke my brother who goes for the artsy skater, graphic desgner look (pac sun) he spends more time shopping than I do
-.-

Urban Outfitters has nice artsy printed t's and such. I like looking through magazines and higher end stores just to see if I can find clothing ideas that I like. You usally can find it for cheaper somewhere ealse.

I have nevr flatironed my hair. never will. I'm getting it cut soon, just above my sholders and a few layers. My hair deflates when it gets to long.

I love accecorizes, but I don't wear them often enogh...My grandma has a closet devoted to the stuff. She is the one to go to for advice.

You'd be suprised at what you can do with stuff you find around home..

Heres the thing. I wear the printed jeans all the time and crazy things. I am NOT trying to be scene people think it is and all. So this was help but if your trying to make this look more you.... you should do whats you and wear it if you want.

everyone has their own style, let people make their own mistakes, so they can learn form them.

i hardly ever straighten my hair
printed jeans can look ok, i prefer darker solid colour (had a purple pair)
when my hair was blue i had to redye it weekly
who needs a stylist when you have skilled friends?
buy from where ever you want, if you like it, and it looks ok on, get it
I dont dress like my friends... i just borrow their clothes Wink

when it comes to thrift stores you want to hit them every day of the week and moth so that you can tell when you are more likely to get something you want I got this really cool hoodie though it had this weird smell and my mom burned one of her pans and she found a replica at the same store, I found this cool shirt you know baseball shirt there I got a good performance shirt also study the history of trends of your local area as that might give you an aspect of what you can find

laundry detergent- what ever mommy uses
flat iron- only my bangs
thrift stores- actually second hand stores can be just like outlet stores except more variety. I got cheap jeans from their.

Fixed that one.

I was going to say the same thing.

Also, The one thing that bothers me the most is when girls tease their hair really shitty. I mean, I love big hair, always have, huge fan. However there is this one girl at my school for example, and oh my god. She has kind of dirty blonde coloured hair and she tries sooo hard to tease it and make it look all scene and shit, but it looks like a frikin' rats nest. It's not even at all, and when she turns around it's like 4 huge scattered knots of hell. I almost want to say something because I seriously don't think she checks what the back of her head looks like when she leaves the house. It looks okay from the front, but... oh god. I can't even stress how bad it is. I feel really mean saying that, but it's... it's really true. >.<
